A HISTORY OF LIVE EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT

OVER 100 YEARS

The Patricia
Café

Historical image of the Patricia Cafe

Our story can be traced to the early 1900s when the space was called The Patricia Café. As Vancouver’s hippest jazz venue, it hosted music legends like Ferdinand “Jelly Roll” Morton, Arthur Daniels, Oscar Holden, Ada “Bricktop” Smith, Leo Bailey, Ralph Love, Billy Hoy, and Lillian Rose.

Pat’s Pub

Renamed Pat’s Pub, the venue underwent decades of development and renovation. Taking it into a new era of eclectic tastes in live music and entertainment. The venue re-established itself as an unpretentious watering hole for locals to kick back with some brews, hearty pub fare, and good tunes.

Company

The pub began to focus on microbrewing in 2006 and was rebranded as Hastings Mill Brewing Company in 2016 following an expansion of our brewery. Despite the change from Pat’s Pub to Hastings Mill Brewing Company and a recent move to new digs in Port Coquitlam, we’re still the same friendly, family-run brewery we’ve always been.

1900s JAZZ CLUB TURNED MICROBREWERY

HASTINGS MILL

Named after the first commercial sawmill in operation on the Burrard Inlet. The mill opened in 1867 and was the cornerstone of life in old Vancouver. Locals shopped at Hastings Mill General Store (now a museum) and children attended the Hastings Mill School.

Hastings Mill was one of the only buildings to survive the Great Vancouver Fire in 1886. Even after the fire, it remained vital to the local economy until its closure in the 1920s.

CRAFT BREWING AT ITS BEST!

In true pub fashion, Pat’s ambience comes as much from regular patrons as its unpretentious anti-aesthetic, independent spirit and heart.
